VC Firm South Park Commons Launches $575 Million Fund IV

Startup community and venture capital firm South Park Commons (SPC) has launched its $575 million Fund IV, taking its total assets under management (AUM) to approximately $2 billion as it expands support for founders from the idea stage through company growth.

The announcement was made by Aditya Agarwal, Managing Partner at South Park Commons, who said the new fund will help founders “find their life’s work” while strengthening SPC’s long-term commitment to backing ambitious entrepreneurs building category-defining companies.

Fund IV is more than double the size of SPC’s previous $275 million Fund III and will allow the firm to invest well beyond its traditional “-1 to 0” stage, a term SPC uses to describe the period before founders formally start a company, when they are exploring ideas, validating assumptions, and developing conviction around a problem worth solving.

With the new fund, South Park Commons plans to lead larger seed rounds, write bigger follow-on cheques, and continue supporting portfolio companies through their early growth journey instead of limiting its involvement to pre-seed investments.

Founded on the principle that “the person comes before the idea,” SPC provides founders with a community-driven environment where they can research, prototype, experiment, and refine ideas before launching a startup. The firm believes that surrounding founders with ambitious peers and giving them time to build deep conviction leads to stronger long-term outcomes.

Over the past decade, South Park Commons has backed several successful startups during their earliest stages, including Baseten, Gamma, Render, Goodfire, Luma AI, and Profound. According to the firm, three of its previous funds rank among the top 10% of their respective vintages, reflecting strong long-term investment performance.

SPC expects to invest in approximately 70 startups through Fund IV while increasing ownership in its highest-conviction portfolio companies. The firm said the decision to expand its investment strategy comes as advances in artificial intelligence continue to lower the cost of experimentation, making it easier for founders to build globally competitive businesses with smaller teams and faster product development.

The firm also noted that interest in its founder community continues to grow, receiving more than 20,000 applications to its membership and fellowship programmes in 2025.
