Pranos Fusion raises $6.8 million in seed round

Deep-tech startup Pranos Fusion has raised $6.8 million (around Rs 63 crore) in a seed funding round co-led by pi Ventures and Ankur Capital.

The round also saw participation from existing investor Industrial47 and a group of angel investors, including Groww co-founder Lalit Keshre, the founders of Razorpay, and Bhukhanwala Industries.

The company said the fresh capital will be used to advance its fusion technology stack, including magnet systems, software-led design and control capabilities, team expansion, and the development of testing infrastructure.

Founded in May 2024 by Shaurya Kaushal and Roshan George, Pranos Fusion is a Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup working on compact magnetic confinement fusion systems designed for stable and controllable long-pulse operation.

The company is building an integrated fusion development stack that includes JENGA, its design and plasma-control software, PRAGYA, its compact tokamak platform, and MAGGA, its high-temperature superconducting magnet programme. Through this approach, Pranos is aiming to move closer to commercially viable fusion power.

The startup is currently working with institutions such as the Institute for Plasma Research and the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, while also engaging with the global fusion programme ITER.

Pranos had earlier raised Rs 3.5 crore in a pre-seed round from Industrial47 and also received a Rs 20 lakh grant under the Startup India Seed Fund. The company did not disclose its valuation but said it remains aligned with global fusion startups at a similar stage.
