Bala Sarda is the founder of Vahdam Teas, a brand that even global celebrity Oprah loves. The company specializes in sourcing and delivering high-quality, single-origin teas from India to customers all over the world.

He was born on September 2, 1991 in New Delhi. His family has been in the tea business for more than 80 years.

Bala Sarda – The Story Unfold

Bala Sarda pursued a Master’s degree in Management from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom after finishing his undergraduate studies in India. While studying in the UK, he became aware of the scarcity of high-quality Indian teas, which were frequently diluted or blended with teas from other regions.

Bala Sarda was inspired by this experience to launch his own tea company, Vahdam Teas, with the goal of bringing the finest Indian teas directly to consumers all over the world. He began by collaborating with small, independent tea growers in India, cultivating relationships with farmers and producers to ensure he could source the highest quality teas.

Bala is a fourth-generation business owner. For decades, his family has been running a tea business as bulk exporters, with showrooms all over Darjeeling.

He was exposed to the rich history and culture of Indian tea at a young age, and he developed a deep appreciation for its distinct flavours and aromas.

Bala Sarda founded Youth 360 and b10Media as a student. He is the Founder and Managing Director of both companies. Bala graduated from New Delhi’s Shaheed Sukhdev College Of Business Studies.

Bala honours his father Madhav, who introduced him to the tea business. by naming his brand Vahdam, which is an anagram of his surname. The journey of the home-grown brand, according to Bala, is a global one.

Vahdam Teas collaborates with approximately 175 tea plantations and small growers in each of India’s seven tea-growing regions: Darjeeling, Assam, the Nilgiris, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Bihar, as well as Nepal. In two years, they have shipped over 20 million cups of tea to 76 countries.

Vahdam’s premium single-estate blends, herbal tisanes, and gifts have received numerous prestigious awards, including the Global Tea Championship, Great Taste Awards, SOFI (Specialty Food Association, USA) Awards, and others.

Bala Sarda has built a successful business that has garnered widespread recognition for its high-quality teas and innovative business model since launching Vahdam Teas in 2015. Bala has been recognised as one of the top entrepreneurs in the Indian tea industry, and the company has won numerous awards and accolades.
