Wipro, one of India’s leading IT companies, announced the appointment of Srinivas Pallia as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately.

Pallia succeeds Thierry Delaporte, who resigned from the position after four years at the helm. Delaporte’s tenure was scheduled to conclude in July 2025, but his resignation was expedited, with him stepping down from his role as CEO on May 31, 2024.

Pallia, a seasoned Wipro veteran with a remarkable 32-year career at the company, brings extensive experience and expertise to his new role. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Pallia served as the head of the Americas-1 unit, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and a client-centric approach.

He has held various key positions within Wipro, including president of the consumer business unit and global head of business application services.

Rishad Premji, Chairman of Wipro, expressed confidence in Pallia’s ability to steer the company through its next phase of growth and profitability. Pallia’s track record of delivering results, coupled with his deep understanding of Wipro’s values and culture, positions him as the ideal leader for the company.

Pallia’s appointment marks a strategic shift for Wipro, moving towards an internal candidate for the CEO position after the tenure of an outsider.

Commenting on the appointment, industry expert R “Ray” Wang highlighted Pallia’s intimate knowledge of Wipro’s operations and his ability to drive performance even in challenging circumstances. Pallia’s successful leadership in the Americas region underscores his capability to replicate this success across other regions.

With Pallia at the helm, Wipro is poised to capitalize on new opportunities, address challenges, and reinforce its position as a global leader in the IT services industry.
