Ahmedabad-based spacetech startup SatLeo Labs has raised $2.2 million in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures, taking its total funding to $5.5 million to date.

The round also saw participation from Merak Ventures, Java Capital, IIMA-CIIE, and investor Manish Gandhi.

According to the company, the fresh capital will be used to advance its thermal satellite mission and scale its AI-powered platform focused on thermal intelligence applications.

Founded in 2023 by Shravan Bhati, SatLeo Labs is building satellite-based systems to capture thermal and visible data from low Earth orbit. Its platform is designed to support multiple sectors, including defence, agriculture, urban planning, and climate monitoring.

The startup has developed its first thermal payload, TAPAS-1, and is currently preparing it for satellite integration. It has also begun pilot deployments, working with cities such as Ahmedabad and Tumakuru on projects related to urban heat and air pollution monitoring.

SatLeo Labs has grown its team to around 30 members and is building a strong commercial pipeline, with letters of intent exceeding $42 million.

Over the coming year, the company plans to focus on satellite launch readiness, expanding its commercial footprint, and scaling its thermal data capabilities as it looks to strengthen its position in the spacetech ecosystem.
