Peyush Bansal – The Founder & CEO of An E-commerce Venture Lenskart

Peyush Bansal is the founder and CEO of Lenskart, a leading Indian eyewear retailer based in Faridabad, Haryana. On April 26, 1985, he was born in New Delhi, India. Bal Kishan Bansal is his father’s name, and Kiran Bansal is his mother’s. He has one older brother and one younger sister, Neha Bansal.

Peyush Bansal finished his education at Don Bosco School. He then attended McGill University and the Indian Institute of Management for further studies. He obtained his post-graduation degree in entrepreneurship from IIM Bangalore.

He co-founded Lenskart.com with Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi in 2010. Bansal previously worked at Microsoft in the United States before founding Lenskart. He decided to leave his job and return to India in 2007. Bansal founded Valyoo Technologies in 2008 selling eyewear through the Internet in the United States. It owns and operates Lenskart.

He created Lenskart from the ground up, and it is now one of India’s largest eyewear retailers. Lenskart joined the unicorn club in 2020, with a valuation of more than $1 billion.

On June 12, 2011, Peyush married Nidhi Mittal. Ivan Bansal, the couple’s son, was born in May 2020. Lenskart Foundation’s chairperson is Nidhi Mittal Bansal. She is a journalist at heart and a passionate social worker.

Lenskart’s website began selling eyeglasses and sunglasses in March of 2011. In an interview, Bansal stated that the goal of Lenskart was to assist people all over India with vision correction. Second, the company aims to raise awareness about eye care and conducts nearly 15,000 eye tests per day. It does, however, offer its customers reasonably priced, fashionable, and high-quality eyewear. Bansal also stated that they strive to understand their customers’ desires and to surprise them with new experiences. As a result, Lenskart’s success can be attributed to this.

In the same year, Peyush was named one of India’s “Top 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30” by Businessworld magazine.

Lenskart entered the international market in 2019 with the acquisition of GlassesUSA.com, a US-based eyewear retailer.

Lenskart employs approximately 4000 people. In addition, the company operates over 500 stores across the country. In March 2020, the company’s sales doubled from Rs 486 crore to Rs 1,000 crore. Titan Eyewear, the company’s main competitor, was also surpassed. Piyush’s dedication and hard work aided Lenskart in reaching new heights. Indeed, the company always prioritizes the customer and strives to provide the best service possible.

Peyush Bansal has joined Shark Tank India. He became a Shark Tank judge after becoming one of the most successful entrepreneurs at the age of 36. As a result, Peyush began to gain popularity on social media.

In 2014, Lenskart received Marketing Sherpa Email Awards. In 2015, Peyush received the India TV Yuva awards (in the business category).

Peyush has been recognized for his contributions to the Indian business community. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2019 Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence and was named to Forbes India’s “30 Under 30” list. Lenskart is reshaping the Indian eyewear industry.
