In a recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, brothers Anjit and Sanjeet Suhag from Haryana showcased their innovative venture, Mudgar Club, aimed at reviving the ancient Indian tradition of strength training using mudgars—traditional wooden tools for building physical resilience.

The founders captured the attention of the sharks with their passion for restoring this cultural heritage and their vision to bring mudgars into the fitness spotlight, securing a deal for their unique approach.

The Pitch

Seeking ₹50 lakh for 10% equity, the brothers opened their pitch with a live demonstration of how to use mudgars.

They even invited the sharks to participate, with Aman Gupta enthusiastically lifting two Persian meels and humorously referencing the Salman Khan movie Sultan during the lively exchange.

The Suhag brothers disclosed that Mudgar Club generates ₹10 lakh in monthly sales with ₹3 lakh in profits but is grappling with negative 80% growth due to inventory challenges.

They revealed having just ₹2 lakh in the bank and highlighted the painstaking six-month process required to craft each mudgar from premium mahogany wood. Most of their sales are driven through social media platforms.

While the demonstration was engaging, not all sharks were convinced. Aman Gupta questioned the mainstream appeal of traditional tools, while Vineeta Singh and Azhar Iqubal raised concerns about the market demand. Kunal Bahl acknowledged the brothers’ passion but felt the business was at too early a stage to invest.

The Deal

Ritesh Agarwal, however, recognized the potential in Mudgar Club’s mission. He offered ₹50 lakh for 12.5% equity, expressing confidence in the brothers’ ability to create a community-driven fitness brand. Anjit and Sanjeet accepted the deal, marking a pivotal moment for their venture.

About Mudgar Club

Founded in 2022, Mudgar Club is dedicated to reviving India’s traditional strength-training practices by crafting handmade mudgars, gadas, Persian meels, and other fitness tools.

By combining cultural heritage with modern fitness trends, the company appeals to both traditional enthusiasts and contemporary fitness seekers.
