Drone startup Marut Drones has raised $6.2 million in a Series A funding round led by Lok Capital.

The funding will be directed towards developing advanced agricultural drones, expanding partner networks, and establishing service centers in tier II and III cities to better reach rural areas.

Marut also plans to establish “Drone-as-a-Service” hubs through strategic partnerships.

About Marut Drones:

Founded in 2019 by Prem Kumar Vislawath, Suraj Peddi, and Sai Kumar Chinthala, Marut Drones is headquartered in Hyderabad and has a team of over 200 members, a fleet of 750 drones, and a network of more than 1,000 drone pilots operating in 14 states across India. While focusing on agriculture, the startup is also exploring applications in disaster management and surveillance.

Marut Drones is actively recruiting and promoting drone entrepreneurship. It plans to open 17 new drone academies to train skilled operators and enhance research and development efforts.

The company is also inviting partnerships with agricultural entrepreneurs, input companies, equipment manufacturers, and retailers to support modernizing agriculture through drone technology.

Last month, Marut introduced the AG365H, a DGCA Type Certified agricultural drone designed for tasks like fish feeding, fertilizer distribution, pesticide spraying, and operator training.
