Bengaluru-based NeuroPixel.AI, an AI startup once backed by Flipkart Ventures, has officially shut down operations after six years, cofounder and CEO Arvind Venugopal Nair confirmed in a LinkedIn post.

The company cited limited business penetration, distribution challenges, and aggressive competition from global image-generation giants as key reasons behind the closure.

Founded in 2020 by Arvind Venugopal Nair and Amritendu Mukherjee, NeuroPixel.AI built AI-led solutions for fashion ecommerce, virtual try-ons, synthetic model generation, and automated cataloguing tools. Despite delivering high-quality output at lower costs, the startup struggled to scale, especially as international AI players rolled out advanced, plug-and-play model-generation systems that rapidly ate into its market.

The financial pressure deepened after NeuroPixel.AI lost a major enterprise client, with dues remaining unpaid for more than six months. The impact was severe enough to force the company to wind down core operations, though Nair noted plans to explore monetisation of its existing technology stack.

During its run, the startup worked with leading brands including Myntra, Fabindia, Van Heusen, and Decathlon, and had raised about $1.2 million from Flipkart Ventures, Inflection Point Ventures, Entrepreneur First, Huddle, and Dexter Ventures.
