Former US President and 2024 President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Sriram Krishnan, an Indian-origin entrepreneur and tech executive, as a senior policy advisor on artificial intelligence.
Krishnan will serve in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), tasked with shaping AI policies and ensuring the United States maintains its leadership in artificial intelligence development.
Announcing the appointment via Truth Social, Trump stated, “Sriram Krishnan will serve as the senior policy advisor for artificial intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy… ensuring the continued leadership of the United States in AI and shaping AI policies across the government.”

Krishnan is set to work alongside notable figures, including David Sacks, to coordinate AI policy efforts within the government.
Sriram Krishnan, born in Chennai, India, earned a BTech degree in Information Technology from SRM Engineering College in Tamil Nadu.
He moved to the United States in 2005, beginning his tech career at Microsoft. Over the years, Krishnan has held prominent roles at major tech firms, including Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap, specializing in mobile ad product development.
Krishnan also shares a professional rapport with billionaire Elon Musk, having worked on Twitter’s transformation into X after Musk’s acquisition in 2022.
In February 2021, Krishnan joined venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) as a general partner, eventually leading the company’s London office until his departure in November 2023.
Outside of his corporate achievements, Krishnan gained fame as co-host of the podcast “The Aarthi and Sriram Show,” which he runs with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy.
Krishnan expressed his gratitude for the new role in a post on X (formerly Twitter):
