- The company will use the capital for product development, category expansion, technology, brand building and distribution, with offline retail planned as a longer-term channel.
Chapter Home, a home and kitchen products startup founded by former PharmEasy and API Holdings executives, has raised ₹63 crore (around $6.6 million) in a funding round comprising equity and debt.
The round saw participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, venture debt firm Stride Ventures, comedian and investor Tanmay Bhat and several family offices. The company has also received additional commitments from undisclosed investors for a future fundraise, according to the funding report.
The latest round values Chapter Home at nearly ₹1,000 crore (around $106 million).
The startup plans to use the capital for product development, category expansion, technology investments, brand building and strengthening its distribution network. It also plans to eventually expand its presence from digital channels into offline retail.
Chapter Home Builds a Portfolio of Home and Kitchen Brands
Founded by Nitin Chugh, Akarsh Bharadwaj, Shrey Mittal, Dhiraj Jain and Dheeraj Goyal, Chapter Home is building a portfolio of brands across the home and kitchen segment. The five founders previously held leadership roles at API Holdings, the parent company behind businesses including PharmEasy and Thyrocare.
The company’s current strategy is to create focused brands for specific categories and consumer needs rather than operate one broad home and kitchen brand. Chapter Home says its portfolio will target mass and mass-premium households.
According to its website, the company is pursuing four broad category bets: home furnishings; décor, lighting and home improvement; kitchen serveware and cookware; and appliances. Its planned products include bedsheets, curtains and cushions under furnishings; pooja products, incense, diyas, lighting and wall décor under home improvement; dinner sets, cookware, storage and bakeware under kitchen; and small kitchen appliances, grooming, home-comfort and air-care products under appliances.
The company plans to use shared technology, supply-chain and distribution infrastructure across these brands. Its channel strategy is currently digital-first, with direct-to-consumer operations and marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho, followed by a planned expansion into physical retail as individual brands reach scale.
Chapter Home’s founders have also publicly described the venture as a new home-improvement business being built around home and kitchen products.
Funding to Expand Categories and Distribution
The new capital will support Chapter Home’s product development and expansion into additional home and kitchen categories. The company also plans to invest in technology, brand building and distribution as it builds out its portfolio.
Technology and artificial intelligence are expected to play a role across areas such as product cataloguing, demand forecasting, assortment planning and customer retention. The company has not publicly quantified the operational impact of these initiatives, so their contribution to efficiency or cost reduction remains to be established.
The planned offline expansion is another part of Chapter Home’s longer-term strategy. Its current model is to establish brands and unit economics through D2C channels and online marketplaces before taking them into physical retail.
