Albatross Energetics raises $1.05 Mn in pre-Series A funding

Mumbai-based climate-tech startup Albatross Energetics has closed a $1.05 million (around ₹10 crore) pre-Series A funding round, with Transition VC leading the investment. The startup had earlier raised ₹1.3 crore from Social Alpha and SINE in 2024.

The fresh capital will be deployed to establish pilot-scale manufacturing capabilities, expand commercial deployments across industrial sectors, strengthen engineering and quality teams, and accelerate research and development of its energy-efficient cooling technologies.

Founded in 2021 by IIT alumni Sudarsan M S and Srihari B, Albatross Energetics develops next-generation industrial air conditioning and dehumidification systems using proprietary liquid desiccant technology.

The startup focuses on helping industries reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by improving the efficiency of humidity control, one of the most energy-intensive aspects of industrial cooling.

Unlike conventional air-conditioning systems that consume significant energy to remove moisture while cooling, Albatross’ liquid desiccant technology extracts humidity directly from the air before the cooling process. The company designs and manufactures liquid desiccant air handling units (AHUs), specialised heat-and-mass exchangers, custom desiccant fluids, and OEM kits for industrial applications. By improving humidity management, the startup aims to help customers lower operating costs while reducing their environmental footprint.

Looking ahead, Albatross Energetics plans to expand beyond industrial applications into commercial buildings and global cooling markets.
