Wealth-tech startup Kalpi raises Rs 3.75 Cr seed funding from Rainmatter

Kalpi has raised Rs 3.75 crore in a seed funding round from Rainmatter, the investment and incubation arm of Zerodha.

The startup said the fresh capital will be used to scale its team, strengthen platform capabilities, procure advanced datasets, and expand distribution across both retail and institutional investor segments.

Founded in 2025 by Ashwar Gupta, Kalpi is building a rule-based quantitative investing platform that enables users to create, test, automate, and execute systematic investment strategies across equities, ETFs, and mutual funds.

The company currently operates through two platforms — Kalpi.ai for retail investors and KalpiQuant.com for institutional participants including PMS firms, AIFs, RIAs, brokers, and family offices.

Its retail-focused offering allows users to build customised stock baskets, analyse portfolios, evaluate investment strategies, and execute trades through integrated brokerage partnerships. The institutional platform provides advanced quantitative investing tools such as portfolio optimisation, backtesting engines, factor analysis, statistical modelling, and risk attribution systems.

Ashwar Gupta, a CFA charterholder and BITS Pilani graduate, has previously worked across quantitative finance and investment research. Through Kalpi, he aims to make institutional-grade quant investing infrastructure more accessible to a broader set of investors and wealth managers.

According to the company, the platform significantly reduces the cost and operational complexity traditionally associated with building quantitative investment systems, which are typically accessible only to hedge funds and large institutional firms.

Kalpi’s funding comes amid rising investor interest in AI-driven investing, automated wealth management, and data-backed portfolio strategies across India’s rapidly evolving fintech ecosystem.
