Pramatra Space Raises Pre-Seed Funding Led By Seafund Ventures
Pramatra Space is developing hybrid satellite and terrestrial systems for quantum-secure communications using Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology.

Quantum security startup Pramatra Space has secured an undisclosed pre-seed funding round led by Seafund Ventures.
The round also saw participation from Rebalance, Magnivia Ventures along with Peaceful Progress Fund, and angel investors including Awais Ahmed. Existing backers such as Techstars, Neel Mehta, Raghunath Das, and Bhavya Doshi also participated in the round.
The fresh capital will be used to advance the company’s proprietary photonics integrated circuit (PIC) chip toward flight qualification and accelerate product development ahead of its planned in-orbit demonstration mission in 2027.
Founded in 2023 by Richa Hukumchand and Vinay Hukumchand, Pramatra Space is developing hybrid satellite and terrestrial systems for quantum-secure communications.
The Bengaluru-based startup focuses on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology, which enables secure generation and distribution of encryption keys for enterprises, data centres, and space infrastructure to prepare against future cyber threats driven by quantum computing.
The company recently validated and tested its proprietary PIC chip for quantum entanglement-based QKD at Indian Institute of Technology Madras and has already booked an in-orbit demonstration mission in partnership with a satellite bus manufacturer for 2027.
Speaking on the development, Founder and CEO Richa Hukumchand said the company aims to help India play a defining role in the emerging quantum era by building globally competitive quantum communication infrastructure from India.
Co-Founder and COO Vinay Hukumchand brings experience across commercialisation and emerging technology sectors, having previously worked with companies including Deloitte, AstraZeneca, and DaVita.
Commenting on the investment, Narendra Bhandari said Pramatra Space operates at the intersection of advanced photonics, cybersecurity, and space technology, making it a strong fit within the firm’s deep-tech investment strategy.
