Google Unveils 20 AI-First Indian Startups for 2026 Accelerator Cohort
This year's programme is centred around four emerging AI themes like Agentic AI, Multimodal AI, Physical AI, and Sovereign AI.

Google has announced the 20 AI-first Indian startups selected for the Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First India 2026 programme. Chosen from nearly 2,500 applications, this year’s cohort also marks the 10th edition of Google’s startup accelerator initiatives in India, highlighting the rapid evolution of the country’s AI ecosystem.
The three-month, equity-free accelerator will provide participating startups with access to Google’s AI technology stack, technical mentorship, product guidance, go-to-market support, and up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits. Founders will also receive mentorship from experts across Google DeepMind, Google Cloud, Android, Google Play, and Google’s global startup network.
This year’s programme is centred around four emerging AI themes like Agentic AI, Multimodal AI, Physical AI, and Sovereign AI with startups building solutions across legal technology, healthcare, manufacturing, climate technology, fintech, cybersecurity, developer tools, enterprise software, and voice AI.
Commenting on the announcement, Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager of Google India, said India’s startup ecosystem is entering a new phase where founders are building intelligent systems capable of solving complex real-world problems through agentic workflows and Physical AI. She added that the selected startups demonstrate India’s growing ability to develop globally competitive AI products while strengthening domestic AI capabilities in line with the government’s IndiaAI Mission.

Google noted that the focus of its accelerator has evolved significantly over the past decade. While its earliest programmes primarily supported startups building mobile-first products, the latest edition is designed to help founders develop AI-native businesses capable of serving global markets. A particular emphasis has also been placed on sovereign AI, AI systems built using local data, languages, and infrastructure to address country-specific requirements while reducing dependence on foreign AI ecosystems.
Over the past decade, startups graduating from the Google for Startups Accelerator India programme have collectively raised significant follow-on funding, expanded internationally, and built category-leading businesses. Through the 2026 cohort, Google aims to support the next generation of Indian founders building globally scalable AI companies across emerging technology sectors.
