About CHOSEN

Founded in 2020 by cosmetic dermatologist Dr Renita Rajan, CHOSEN develops science-led skincare for melanin-rich Indian skin. Its product development approach draws on exposome science, which examines how environmental and lifestyle factors influence skin and hair health. The company focuses on four areas of ageing: pigmentation, skin texture, facial contour and hair ageing.

The brand’s portfolio spans topical skincare and nutraceuticals, with its products positioned around its four focus areas. CHOSEN follows a clinic-to-consumer model involving dermatologists alongside its direct-to-consumer channels. The company says its products are prescribed across more than 2,000 clinics and that its portfolio has grown to around 58 SKUs.

One of its products, CHOSEN Sculpt, is a topical serum developed for submental fullness, commonly referred to as a double chin. A 12-week prospective study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in January 2026 evaluated a topical serum containing DMAE and retinol in Indian women with mild-to-moderate submental fullness.

The study enrolled 16 women, of whom 13 completed the trial. All 13 participants who completed the study showed visible improvement in submental contour, with dermatologist assessments showing statistically significant improvements across the measured views. However, the researchers described the findings as preliminary and called for larger randomised controlled trials with objective volumetric measurements for further validation.

CHOSEN has also been expanding its dermatologist network and Centre of Excellence, with the company saying its product development is informed by clinical experience and dermatological research. Its products are sold through its own digital platform and other channels, with the company also looking to expand its international presence.

What’s Next for CHOSEN?

With the additional investment, CHOSEN plans to broaden its research capabilities, expand its formulation pipeline and strengthen collaboration with dermatologists through its Centre of Excellence. The company is also expected to add talent across R&D, brand and growth functions.

The startup’s product pipeline will continue to cover both topical skincare and nutraceuticals, with a focus on developing products supported by clinical and dermatological research. Its existing research programme, including work around products such as CHOSEN Sculpt, is part of this broader approach.

CHOSEN also plans to expand its distribution across India and international markets. Earlier reports said the company was evaluating markets including Latin America and East Asia as part of its international expansion plans.
