Tata Steel Limited is an Indian multinational steel-making corporation founded on August 26, 1907 by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and Sir Dorabji Tata. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, with its headquarters in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. It is a subsidiary of the Tata Group.

Tata Steel, formerly known as Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited (TISCO), is one of the world’s largest steel producers, with an annual crude steel capacity of 34 million tonnes. It is one of the most geographically diverse steel producers in the world, with operations and commercial presence all over the world.

Tata Steel India Limited is a Great Place to Work-accredited company. By succeeding on the five aspects of a High-Trust, High-Performance CultureTM – Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride, and Camaraderie – the organisation has established a Great Place to Work FOR ALL of their employees. Tata Steel India Limited is ranked 28th among India’s Best Companies to Work For in 2022.

Tata Steel’s world is one without borders – one that is developing, changing, and challenging, a world that values varied skills, continual innovation, sustainable growth, and a higher quality of life. Tata Steel is currently the second-most geographically diverse steel producer in the world.

They are one of the few completely integrated steel operations, from mining to manufacturing and sale of completed products. Tata Steel has performed admirably in the face of the current turmoil. Its digital journey, which began long before digitization was deemed necessary, has accelerated by leaps and bounds, not only in terms of the diversity of services but also in the sophistication of the technology utilized.

Tata Steel’s people-friendly, progressive, and robust HR programmes continue to inspire. Tata Steel has demonstrated what a truly inclusive organisation looks like, from several affirmative action measures with a special focus on the tribal people to being attentive to the concerns of LGBTs.

The work atmosphere both challenges and nurtures its employees. There are several opportunities for study and development. The numerous measures undertaken by the organisation to assist various stakeholders during Covid have once again highlighted the organisation’s humanitarian side.

Some of Tata Steel India Limited’s best people practices and initiatives include:

Window on the World: Window on the World has been spreading knowledge for three decades. WOW is a platform for thought leaders and specialists from many sectors such as leadership and management, art and culture, industry and economy, and sports to share their perspectives with the Tata Steel community. This platform aims to strengthen Tata Steel’s culture of continuous learning while also professionally and personally enhancing the audience. This programme has previously featured a number of distinguished speakers.

Tejaswini 2.0: Tejaswini is a first-of-its-kind project at Tata Steel geared at empowering and advancing women on the factory floor. The goal of this effort was to train unskilled women to work within the factory driving heavy vehicles, mobile equipment, etc., welding, gas-cutting, and other jobs. It has offered female workers with opportunities to advance in the industry to levels commensurate with their skill and competence. The Government of India has recognised Tejaswinis by awarding them the Prime Minister’s “Shram Veerangana” and “Shram Devi” awards. The President of India acknowledged it.

Tata Steel has continued to innovate and invest in new technologies such as sustainable steel production and 3D printing over the years. In addition, the corporation has received recognition for its initiatives in corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

Tata Steel is now a large global steel producer, having significant operations in India and Europe. The company is dedicated to providing high-quality steel products and services while also helping to strengthen the communities in which it operates.
